About i2I
The rapid foray into technological advancements has done little to settle the ongoing debate over the effectiveness of synergy between academia and industry. In its effort to wash away the boundary separating the two, i2I has evolved from a traditional Business Plan contest to a start ups factory. Four out of the nine finalist teams from the 2008 challenge saw their dreams become reality. In an emerging economy like India, opportunities and motivation are abound for wanna-be entrepreneurs and i2I helps realize those dreams by providing exposure to collective wisdom of a large pool of mentors, venture capitalists and successful entrepreneurs. i2I facilitates interaction among finalists (and short listed teams as well) and its investment partners to allow serious and dedicated teams to catapult themselves towards financial support.
The new format of i2I received great appreciation right from industrial stalwarts to the most elite of academicians, venture capitalist firms to angel investors who have referred to i2I as an engine fuelling the growth of entrepreneurship in the country. The reincarnated i2I can be best described to have brought a paradigm shift in the expectations of all its stakeholders. Team i2I delights equally in the successful launch of its finalists' companies and the key learning and take away of all the short listed teams which gets an opportunity to brainstorm their business idea with the best in the industry.
i2I 2009 has grown larger and we bring more intense competition including both students and working professionals and more mentors. We don't offer cash prizes to the best business plan but seed investment to the deserving entrepreneurs. With investment partners like Canaan Partners, Indavest Starter Fund & Indian Angel Network the worthy applicants can expect to receive a hefty initial capital and an expert review right from the horse's mouth.

The Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell) at IIM Calcutta seeks to foster the spirit of Entrepreneurship amongst the wannabe entrepreneurs by exposing them to the joys and challenges of having their own ventures. E-cell aims to inculcate entrepreneurship as an attitude and organizes theme based workshops, lecture series, facilitates venture support by encouraging interactions between start ups and VC firms to this effect. E-cell's year round activities inspire and impress upon people to confidently strive forward to unlock their potential.
